Selleck portrays a police officer assigned to track down dangerous robots, while Simmons is a scientist who hopes to profit from his malevolent manipulation of robots. The film was a box office disappointment and received mixed reviews. In the near future, robots are commonplace—a part of everyday life like any other electrical appliance—and are just as prone to malfunctions.
